Pregnancy Update

Yes, I'm getting very big!
Had my doctor's appointment yesterday, and was excited to find out that I'm a "good" 2 centimeters dilated...maybe even three! Not that it means I'm going into labor tonight, but at least when it does happen, I've already got a head start on things:-) Also asked the midwife yesterday who will be on call the next couple weeks, and thankfully the two midwives I really like will be at the hospital until April 11th. The one midwife I don't like will be back after April 11th. Anyways, just pray that it happens sometime before then:-)

Baby Names

Well I think we have narrowed it down to two names. I have a baby name book that tells you what people first think about when they hear a certain name. Of course this is a HUGE generalization, but I decided to look up the two names we were deciding between last night. I couldn't believe the difference between the two! Ryan thought I had made it up when I read him the explanation for the second name...I had to physically show him to make him believe me:-) Anyways....thought you might get a kick out of it. BTW....if you don't like either name, I don't want to hear it! It will have to grow on you:-)

Painting 101

Thought I'd give a little update for what we've been up to....no, no baby yet (sorry for the lapse in posts). Ryan and I spent several hours Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday painting the baby's room. The room is not that big, but there is a lot of trim and we are doing it in two different colors with molding and stencils/etc (not your average paint job). Let's just say we remembered quickly why we usually have my dad do all the painting. Painting is no fun at all, plus we are no good at it. My father should really teach a class on painting, because he uses no tape or extra tools to do the trim (and we had to use both), you just give him a paint brush and he's done in a few hours. Well at least I can tell my little girl I was slaving away on her room while I was very pregnant....hopefully she'll appreciate it that much more:-) We still have a lot of finishing touches to make the room complete, so I'll post pictures once that is all done. But we are making progress and I'm fulfilling the nesting desire that comes with pregnancy!

Drew Drew

Well, took Drew back to the allergist yesterday for his follow-up to last month's visit. All the medications he is on has really helped, although since we have officially begun spring season and the pollen count is up, the past few days have been bad again. So the doctor precriped another medication for him to take....yep he's up to four medications now at night (plus his two special creams he gets after his bath....you can see his line-up of drugs below). We're very thankful for the modern medical advances, but man is he one expensive child:-) I guess anything to help make him a happier, more balanced child is worth the money:-) It was truely amazing how much all the medication helped him initially (until the worst time for allergies in Georgia arrived). We'll see how this new medication adds to the mix....good thing he is one cute kid!

Georgia Patrol

Gotta love those Georgia cops....I received my first speeding ticket yesterday since moving here. It was so frustrating because it was one of those situations where I normally watch my speed... but this time I happened to be flipping through radio stations and then of course noticed the cop...went to slow down and his lights were already on. Oh well, I guess I deserved it but you always feel there is a worse crime going on at that moment! I thought the cop might give me a warning since I haven't had a ticket at all in the 5 1/2 years we've been here, plus I am over 8 months pregnant right now, but no such luck. Guess I should have poured out the tears:-)

Frisbee Golf

There is a park close to our house that has a Frisbee golf course. It is set up like a golf course, with 18 holes. However, instead of golf balls you use Frisbees and try to throw them into a metal-cage type of target. Ryan has taken the boys a couple times now, and they love it. They only make it through several holes because it requires a lot of walking, but it's free and it gets them outdoors!

Rejuvenation

Ryan and I had a nice, kid-free weekend, thanks to Papa and Grammy. We wanted to get a little retreat in before child #3 arrives, and the time was coming to an end! We dropped the boys off at the grandparent's house Friday evening, then headed out to my favorite restaurant...Melting Pot! Ate way too much there and then went to stay at a hotel. Woke up Saturday and had breakfast in the room, then headed out to get a massage. BTW, this was all planned by Ryan! Way to go honey:-) After the massage we headed downtown Atlanta to have lunch at a really nice Mexican restaurant we've been to once before. Again, ate way to much then headed to IKEA to look around (first time going there without the kids). It was much, much, much more enjoyable to go there without the kids:-) Then we headed home and rearranged some of the beds/rooms to get ready for baby girl's room (about time, huh?). Now her room is finally ready to be painted and decorated, none too soon! Of course we couldn't wait to see the boys Sunday morning:-) The boys got raving reviews on their behavior from Papa and Grammy, so I was relieved and proud at the same time. Anyways, back to life now, however with a more positive attitude:-) Hopefully pictures to come of the boys on Papa's boat this past weekend....

Lazy Lunch

Decided to take advantage of the nice weather before the rain comes, so we packed a picnic lunch and drove 10 minutes down to the lake (gotta love that!). It's been wonderful having Ryan work from home because we can make these little lunch trips in the middle of the day. The boys love throwing rocks into the lake, especially ones that are too big for them:-) The trip was cut short after Ethan thought he would try to throw a rock over Drew's head and hit him smack in the back of the head. So the ride home wasn't quite as enjoyable....Drew screaming because his head hurt, and Ethan crying because he had been disciplined!

Haircuts

Both boys DESPERATELY needed a haircut (as you can see in the first two pictures)....it had been since the beginning of December! We finally were able to get Miss Gloria to come out to the house to cut their hair. We are so blessed to have her come to the house! Ethan went first and did great, but then we quickly realized that it was not going to go smoothly for our strong-willed Drew. We pulled out his favorite video from the Christmas storage bins in the basement (Frosty the Snowman), and set the chair in front of the TV hoping it would help. Miss Gloria even came prepared, bringing him chocolate! Needless to say it took three adults to get his hair cut....Ryan holding his head still, me holding him on the chair, and Miss Gloria trying to get a quick trim in. Twenty minutes later and a huge headache shared by all those present, he was done. Now I remember why it's been three months! Oh well, it will get easier with time, right?!? And the end result was worth it.

Stroller Races

Since the weather has been beautiful lately (70's), we've been playing outside a ton. Drew and Ethan both love to push around strollers, I think it makes them feel "grown up". Drew and I spent a half hour this morning pushing the strollers around while Ethan was at preschool, and this afternoon after naps they had a fun time having races with Daddy. Spring is such a wonderful time of year!

Baby Shower

I had a very lovely baby shower yesterday given to me by my mother-in-law. Thank you Lee....I appreciated it so much! Recevied TONS of cute clothes for little sister.....let's just say she is going to be the best dressed little girl around! My mom and sister flew in late Friday night and left right after the shower, so it was a short visit but it meant so much to have them there... thanks Mom and Kerry! You can see in one of the pictures all my friends that were there that are either pregnant or just recently had a baby....and that is minus five other friends I know that are expecting! Let's just say something is in the water right now! My belly is sticking way out right now, and it is hard to imagine getting any bigger!

Like Father, Like Son

Ethan's favorite thing to do is to sit on the potty and read Ryan's InfoWorld magazine. Is he a computer geek-in-training? Only time will tell....but he will flip through that same magazine for hours.

Georgia Aquarium

Went to the Georgia Aquarium on Monday with Gta and YaYa. Both boys did great, and loved seeing all the different fish (especially the ones they recognized from Nemo!). The first picture is the boys and Gta in a tunnel inside of a fish tank (unfortunately no fish were swimming by at the time). Next is Ethan showing off his 3D glasses at the movie. I love the third picture....Ethan's shadow with all the jellyfish. You can see Gta and Ethan to the right in the last picture. Ethan's favorite part was the 4D movie....he wore the 3D glasses and enjoyed when water was sprinkled on you or bubbles were blowing in the air to match what was happening in the movie. Drew Drew loved seeing the sharks...he kept asking "where's my shark?" whenever we would look at the fish. Overall it was a great experience and I'm glad we were able to go before little sister arrives!
