Happy 4th Birthday Ethan!

Wow. Can't believe my little Ethan turned 4 today. LOTS and LOTS of memories with my little man (not so little anymore). Thought I'd help celebrate his day by looking back over the past four years in pictures....must admit it took me HOURS to go through all our pictures and narrow it down. I feel SO incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful son. He has the BIGGEST heart for others. Yes, times get frustrating (previous post!), but looking through the pictures from the past years made me really realize how much my life has been blessed by this life God has placed in mine.

Ethan Ryan Turner, born September 17th 2003

He was a tiny baby, weighing 6 lbs 6 oz

It wasn't soon after he was born that mommy found out she was pregnant again!

Just chillin in the watering can on a HOT summer Georgia afternoon

Not so happy with all the attention on his 1st birthday

Baby brother Drew Drew arrives....all the sudden "baby" Ethan is not so little anymore...although he's only 15 months old!

What a good big brother

Getting bigger every day!

Two years old!

Look at that L O N G lizard tongue:-) We are amazed at that thing!

Three years old!

Potty training with Drew...why not knock out two birds with one stone?!?

Baby Elise has arrived. He's a pro at being a big brother now!

Playing sports camp....what a big boy!

Ethan's 4th birthday party...a pirate bash....that will take a whole new blog to talk about what fun we had:-)

Look how grown up he is....already has a stache growing in:-) Ha!

Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday our dear Ethan, Happy Birthday to you!

We LOVE YOU!

Day off.....

It has been a DAY. You know it's been a bad, stressful, trying day when this is what you're drinking at 3:00 in the afternoon...

Now I'm not much of a drinker at all folks. But my sanity is on the brink of being lost, and I must relax. The boys have been everything but obediant the past few days, and I'm tired of trying every trick in the book to get them to be respectful. So far they have completely lost their TV privilage til who knows how long(which is probably part of my loss of sanity since that always gives me a break!). It's SOOOO frustrating as a stay-at-home mom when your children don't obey, don't listen, don't respect you, constantly fight....I could go on and on.

Don't worry......the children are fast asleep while I drink my grape Smirnoff. Is it possible to just take a "day off" from parenting? We should be allowed as stay-at-home moms to have sick days, personal days, and vacation days....just like any other job:-) I count it a MAJOR blessing to be able to stay home with my children, and contrary to the post today, I usually LOVE it. But there are just some DAYS................

off to school! & new pics

Phew. The boys both went off to preschool yesterday. I have to admit I had major anxiety building up for Drew Drew's first day. Ethan went to school last year and has never had a problem making friends, going into a new setting, etc. So there was NO anxiety over him whatsoever this year. HOWEVER, my Drew is a whole different story. It took about a year for him to not get called out of the church nursery every Sunday because he did not want to be there and was crying. Needless to say, with school being four hours compared to the one hour that church is, I was almost positive we were going to have some major crying and phone calls from his teacher. THANK GOODNESS Drew has the same teacher Ethan had last year, so she had been fully warned (and witnessed first hand the very "strong and passionate" personality he can possess at times at some of Ethan's functions last year). We tried to hype up school to him big-time...making him feel super special and like a big boy. I knew once he got over the whole seperation-anxiety thing he would LOVE it like Ethan did. We took him to get new shoes just for school (he needed them anyways!).....he got a special haircut given by Grammy the week before.....he helped me make his lunch for school and even got to put his lunchbox into his backpack...etc. Well......this is video of me dropping the boys off at school the first morning.

That's right folks......NO CRYING!!! Yeah! Yipee! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah:-) I was so proud and so happy. When I went inside to pick him up I expected him to be waiting at the door like he always is at church, and he was playing blocks with a little girl. My heart melted...I'm so excited that he is doing so well so far. Ethan did great also....props to him as well.

Here's a cute picture I took of the kiddos taking a bath together the other night:

Sissy now LOVES to scoot herself all around. I left her in the middle of the blanket in her room and ran downstairs to get her laundry. Literally I was gone for three minutes at the most.....came back upstairs and this is where she was:

Here's some of her latest facial expressions:
Her "don't you just want to pinch my cheeks" look:

Her "Yaarrr..I'm a pirate.....ahoy mate" look:

Her "mmmmmm, I'm drooling just thinking about my yummy lumpy rice cereal" look:

Signing off for now folks......have a great weekend!

Random video

Saw this video on cnn.com today. Pretty amazing...check out the link below.

Orange happiness

Most inmates there are accused murderers, rapists and drug dealers. In fact, they are led by a choreographer who is accused of mass murder. Pretty crazy, seems like they have something going on right in their prison system....

Most embarassing moment evah!

So you know when you're in a new group setting and they ask you for your most embarassing moment ever? I never really had a good one. I would fumble and say "I don't have one", and pretty much mean it. I know I've had situations that are embarassing, but they aren't etched into my brain to pull out randomly in those scenarios (I guess that's a good thing?!?). Well, I had a moment the other day that I will NEVER forget. It was a major OOPS moment.

Ryan had to go into the office for some meetings last Thursday. I had just put the kids down for naps, although I was having trouble with Drew going again (see previous post). I decided to jump in the shower, hoping he was down for good. I took a super fast shower and just as I was getting out Ryan burst into the bathroom, not looking so good.

"You're gonna want to get outta here" he mumbled...looking green in the face.
"Oh, are you sick? You don't look so good".....not that he needed me to tell him that.

Let's pause for a moment so I can share some pertinant information: I can NOT handle stomach sickness. This is a MAJOR WEAKNESS of mine. If someone is about to throw up, I have to be 100 yards away with ear plugs and nose plugs so I can't see, hear, or smell anything. I have always been this way....I remember in grade school seeing a classmate get sick and I almost fainted...I had to be sent home as well! Probably TMI, but it goes along with the story....

"Yes, I'm very sick. Think I have food poisoning. Like I said, you probably want to leave." Then he briefly mumbled something about Drew in the bathroom.

I took my cue quickly and wrapped my hair in the towel, closing the door behind me. I went to check on Drew, thinking what a stinker he was being by not going to sleep. As I went to open the bathroom door (obviously different bathroom than the one Ryan was in), I thought it was strange that Drew would close the door behind him (not a common practice). I opened the door and completely froze.....Ryan's co-worker was using the bathroom.

"OH MY GOODNESS, I'M SO SORRY!"

Time stood still. I'm sure it was only like one second, but looking back it seems like I stood there forever cause I was in such shock. I quickly closed the door, ran back into our room and turned bright red in the face. You see, not only did I walk in on his co-worker going to the bathroom, I was completely naked (oh, except a towel on my hair). Yes, my friends, it wasn't bad enough that I walked in on his co-worker going to the bathroom, I also had to be naked.

Good news...his back was to me. Bad news....there was a mirror.

Honestly I saw nothing and I don't think his co-worker saw anything as well, but the situation itself is clearly embarassing and frightful.

Haha...I guess I can laugh about it now. As soon as Ryan came out of the bathroom he got an ear-full from me!
"What did you say to me? I thought you said Drew was in the bathroom"........
"no...I said Robert was in the bathroom"........

I guess the lesson is to ALWAYS leave your room fully dressed cause you never know who/what is out there!
